My Story
This was formally Vivi’s Wine Journal. Its now morphing into my adventures in the wine business….

My Story:
I’m Joel Vincent, fugitive from the cubicle nation. I’ve spent the better part of the last two decades marketing technology for other people’s profit and fortune while I maintain my modest home, two cars, two kids, and my brilliant wife.
One thing that always frustrated me was I am giving folks my best (I’m a professional, you pay me you get my best), I want “Joel Vincent”’s brand to mean something so I always give it my best, and yet HUGE rewards went to other people. Thats not right. Politics are hard to play when you really care. And taking pride in your work isn’t always easy when you’re forced by said politics to make calls you don’t agree with.
When work doesn’t align with your values the result is stress.
So along came this blog…
I have always loved wine. Big, expensive hobby for me. Somewhere along the line my wife and I decided that we’d end up in the wine business. Friendly people, a product that I have a passion for (I have a huge passion for technology, but the worst part of technology are the people ironically enough), and its an industry that can benefit from the skills that I have - deep technical knowlege and the ability to translate technology into usable solutions.
To start that journey I figured I needed to get to know people who shared that passion. I started blogging in 2004. Not many wine blogs then, maybe a couple dozen. Slowly I met more and more wine industry folks. Next thing I know, there are TONS of wine blogs, I’m running a non-profit organization, the OWC, for the wine industry, and I’m jumping ship from cubicle nation to make a run at the wine industry.
So there you have it, thats where I am today. To keep up with what I’m doing and my comments on wine, technology, and marketing check back here.
Cheers! and remember to Enjoy the Wine Life!
