There's a vibrant wine community on the site with internationally known somelliers and reps from some of the worlds best vineyeards. Its a legacy thing. Catavino was an early early tester so he has the luxury of an RSS feed (which comes in with 0 votes). Needed content to test the site so I created a script to import the feed.

I'm ok with good marketing. I even bought "Bitch" because I thought it was funny.
However, I do feel some of it is dumbing it down too far. I'm really tired of seeing books about wine specifically for women. Like I'm too stupid to comprehend it on a man's level. I had great respect for Alpana Singh until that wine and relationships book came out.

Good wine is very much about balance. A good wine successfully balances the many factors that influence its color, aroma and taste. Any wine will taste better when paired with a food that balances well with that wines characteristics. Enjoying wine is also about balance. While it is true that the more you know about wine, the more you can enjoy it, eventually you reach a point of diminishing returns; i.e. the effort to learn more exceeds the addtional level of enjoyment gained. Where that point is varies for each of us based on our motivation. One person might only want order a decent, appropriate wine when dining out, while another might want to impress 1WineDude the next time he comes for dinner. Each of us must find our own point of balance, accept it, and enjoy. Hmmm...seems this might apply to many things in life.

Wow I'm famous - I just googled my name and found this. Rags to riches? THAT story will take a few more years to develop. It's too bad I'm not even getting paid in money for this job, just research units. Even with that, I'm not going to get compensated anywhere close to enough for the amount of hours I'm putting in. No worries though, its going to work itself out in time.
